Dancers hold a dinner and show at the Island Bowls Club on Saturday, May 27, and have 250 tickets available. Tickets are sold at Kalkadoon Community at 109 Barkly Highway for $20 for adults, and $10 for children.
Kalkadoon Community project officer Sheree Blackley said 30 dancers and about 40 supporters will travel to the dance festival for the six day trip in June. A 22 seat bus recently purchased by Kalkadoon Community and other vehicles will be used for the 27 hour journey.
The Sundowners received the invitation to perform by the Tjungundji Aboriginal Corporation. They will perform six songs in the children’s dance category but adults will be in it as they guide the younger dancers, Mrs Blackley said.
The dances at Laura will be shown at the fundraising night at the Island Bowls Club, she said.
Mrs Blackley said the fundraising night will also include traditionally cooked food and music from MobFM.
