Cancer Council Queensland is calling all locals from Mount Isa to Charters Towers to show they care about Queenslanders affected by cancer by getting involved in Relay For Life.
The 2017 Red Dirt Relay For Life will be held on September 2-3 at Hughenden State School and Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan encouraged people to show their support.
“Participating in Relay For Life is a great way to support the work of Cancer Council Queensland and help make a vital difference right here in the local community,” Ms McMillan said.
“Funds raised through Relay can enable us to continue to support those affected by cancer, through cancer research, prevention programs and patient support services.”
Relay For Life is an 18 hour event involving teams who keep a baton moving in a relay style walk or overnight in support of all Queenslanders and all cancers.
“At Relay, teams also take part in inspirational ceremonies and fundraising activities, supporting each other and sharing stories of hope,” Ms McMillan said.
“Get your friends, family and colleagues together and register now to receive and early bird discount.”
Early bird registration is $20 per person and ends July 20.
