Daniel Allan Baker, formerly an officer-in-charge of the Camooweal Police Station, faces fraud, stealing and misconduct charges in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court. His appearance was excused in his court mention on Monday.
Legal Aid Queensland solicitor Rhianna Batt told the court her client was subject to bail conditions in Ayr and asked the magistrate to excuse his appearance in the following mention.
She asked that the matter proceed to a committal mention on October 30 so that police prosecution could supply their evidence to Mr Baker’s legal representation.
Police prosecutor offered no objection to the adjournment date or to the defendant’s appearance being excused.
Mr Baker is charged with three counts of fraud, two counts of stealing as a person in public service, and misconduct of a police officer. He resigned from the Queensland Police Service as a Sergeant based in Camooweal before disciplinary action was taken against alleged actions, and was extradited from the Northern Territory in July.
