More than half a million dollars of funding has been poured into north west community groups.
Many local organisations relied on the funding boost, to allows them to continue providing services to the region.
Not-for-profit groups can apply for grants from $500 to $35,000 through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
This fund is Queensland’s largest one-off grants program, distributing about $54 million per year.
The fund allocates grants to not-for-profit community groups, to enhance their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities.
Some of the north west’s biggest beneficiaries included:
– The Mount Isa Filipino Association scored $25,000 for a new food truck.
– Cloncurry Bowls Club was gifted $33,450 for air conditioning
– Almost $20,000 for the Burke Shire Council to put towards the Order of the Outback Ball
– $6000 was given to the Mount Isa Quilters Group for new security blinds
