Three community groups were awarded funding in the latest round of Mount Isa City Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund.

Two groups received funding under the auspices of Mount Isa Entertainment and Tourism Venues (MIETV) for the Queensland Ballet Dance Camp and the Bird Watching Interpretive Signage at Lake Moondarra.
Rex Whitehead said the signage would be put up near the Lookout at and would feature birds found at the Lake. “There are 240 species in the Mount Isa area, we’ll have 43 on the sign, some will be among the less common ones you’ve got to look for,” he said.
Mr Whitehead said he hoped to see it at the Lake in the next month.
Kalkutungu Language and Cultural Connections also scored an RADF grant for its Connecting to Culture Workshop.
Sheree Blackley said the workshop would give kids a basic understanding of indigenous cultural aspects mainly focused on Kalkadoon, covering language, art and song and dance.
