The ‘stand alone’ structure has been manufactured to harness natural airflow and has been designed for tough climate conditions. It meets with several eco building standards, including the decking made from composite recycled materials.
The works was made possible through two funding rounds under the Works for Queensland Program. Boulia Shire Council Acting Chief Executive Officer Harin Karra said council received $70,000 in the first round and a further $40,000 in the second round of funding.
“Funds from round one were used to replace the old amenities block with the new facility and the second round of funding will be used to install a solar hot water system and a disabled access ramp.”
Mr Karra said the total cost of the project was $122.000, which was a combination of Works for Queensland funds and a contribution from Boulia Shire Council.
