Vietnam Veterans Day will be commemorated in Mount Isa next Saturday August 18. There will be a public service to be held at 10am at the Cenotaph, Civic Centre Lawn.

The day commemorates the Battle of Long Tan in 1966 where 18 Australian soldiers from Delta Company, 6th Battalion RAR lost their lives as did hundreds of Vietnamese soldiers when 108 Australian and New Zealand soldiers fought a battle with 2000 Viet Cong.
