The lunatic fringe organisation Animal Liberation Queensland which claims to a “charitable organisation” doesn’t appear to want to share much charity with the bush with its relentless and vindictive crusade against the Mount Isa Rodeo.
Thousands came to Mount Isa this weekend and none reported any evidence of animal welfare issues.
None that is, except ALQ spies deliberately filming all day looking for video it can use to create manufactured outrage in the city and make outlandish claims that “animals are dying to entertain”.
The Rodeo says these claims are utterly false.
Hundreds of animals including steers, bulls and broncos being ridden, chased and lassoed by around 600 competitors over four days are well looked after, rodeo arena director Steven Hilton said.
"Sometimes animals do unfortunately get hurt. It's a sad moment,” he said. “But the mortality rate of livestock in rodeo is far less on a percentage basis than they are running out in paddock."

ALQ berated “the relentless rodeo hype” but was not afraid to hype up its own unvalidated claims.
“Deaths, injuries and distress were on show at the Rodeo, for anybody who closely observed,” the group said, presumably “closely observing” the action from south-east Queensland.
Sadly the claims were swallowed by some with the North West Star being told by one ALQ supporter “you're a town of barbaric bogans”.
Thankfully not everyone was fooled by their bush-hating nonsense.
Sharon McCoy told ALQ the calls to ban rodeo based on two freak accidents to well looked after animals was a gross over-reaction.
“There are more important issues facing rural Australia,” she said. “We are in the middle of a drought and farmers taking their own lives after shooting starving animals…Put your efforts into a worthwhile cause.”
