Mayor Joyce McCulloch hosted the Spring Charity Evening to raise money to buy vital equipment for Mount Isa Hospital.
“Currently, without having certain equipment, some babies are being transferred to Townsville or Brisbane for treatment, which places immense stress on families,” Cr McCulloch said.
We want to keep them here and help them to receive care in their own community.”
Australian actor and funny man Shane Jacobson was MC for the evening and he said he had four children and the cause was a special one for him.
“It’s pretty easy to get a parent to understand how necessary that would be,” Mr Jacobson said.
“We know you’ve got generous hearts, you are good eggs, but we are asking you to dig deep to help this great cause to help the most vulnerable people in our community.”
Over 260 people attended the $100-ticketed gala event which featured live entertainment from Bandana, Mount Isa Community Ensemble strings and the Aerial Angels hire wire act as well as raffles, auctions and plenty of fun and surprises.
