Three UK lads created the ultimate upset for Australia last week, taking out the inaugural Ashes of Ordinary Rig event in Sydney, featuring Mount Isa's Dingo Dan Leyden.
The event for Australian swimwear label Budgy Smuggler, champions the average looking man, and celebrated that you don’t need to have a six pack to be a good bloke or have a huge crowd admire you with your kit off.
Dingo Dan and the other finalists were selected from over 800 entries across the UK and Australia and competed in three categories including; Group performance, Fallen Angels Parade (Victoria’s Secret for less attractive people) and individual talent.
Dingo wowed judges with his surprise performance, lifting his cowboy hat to reveal two white doves which flew into the crowd with rapturous applause.
Team Australia were cheered on by over 300 fans, including gold medal winning athletes from the Invictus Games who sported their medals poolside in their Invictus Games themed Budgy Smugglers.
Sadly the Poms won leading some to suspect the Ordinary Rig was well, rigged.
“I thought they’d be more ordinary with the amount of warm beer they drink and Yorkshire puddings they eat,” Dingo Dan said.
Team UK will be rewarded for their win with a billboard in a town of their choice.
As the ultimate punishment, Team UK suggested they may place their winning billboard in Mount Isa, to rub further salt in the wounds for Aussie Captain, Dingo.
