An update from the Chief Operating Officers of Zinc (Greg Ashe) and Copper Assets Australia (Mike Westerman) in the quarter four edition of Mine to Market, said Glencore had undertaken a major body of work to ensure the business remained a safe and attractive place to work.
This included a major review of benefits, rewards and recognition programs, and overhauling how staff rosters were structured.
The update said the roster changes were to better support appropriate work-life balance in regional communities.
“All staff employees at Mount Isa and Cloncurry operations working a standard five-day week will move to either a 5/2/4/3 roster, or a 5/2 roster with an additional eight ‘flexi-days’ leave annually,” the COOs said.
“We want our operations to be great places to work, and giving our people the time they need to connect with family, engage in their communities and pursue their interests beyond the site gate is a big part of this.
“The driving intent of these changes is to shift our workplace culture to one where work-life balance is a priority, in line with the values that underpin our safety and leadership programs.”
