The annual races and rodeo on the Easter long weekend are legendary according to race committee president Michael Furber.
“This unique event attracts many visitors who want to experience a taste of true country spirit,” he said.
The weekend kicks off with a fishing competition on Friday, April 19 on the banks of the Copperfield River with a weigh-in at the Einasleigh Hotel that afternoon.
Entry for the weekend will also include a BBQ dinner on the Friday night with a licensed bar and a live band.
“Saturday, April 20, will see the latest fashions put on show during the five-race program which will include the Einasleigh Cup,” Mr Furber said.
“There will be bookmakers and televised southern races to view trackside, as well as Fashions on the Field, a calcutta and a public auction.”
Mr Furber said on Sunday, April 21, the action-packed ABRCA Rodeo will take center stage with bucking broncs and bulls, steer wrestling, roping and barrel racing events occurring along with many more.
“Again the licensed bar will be open until late for cowboys and cowgirls to enjoy the live band.”
Einasleigh is located 360km south-west of Cairns via Mt Surprise, or 380km north-west of Townsville via Hervey Range. For more information like the Facebook page ‘Easter At Einasleigh’.
