The Mount Isa SOTA Governess Group are raising funds to support station families who lost everything in the North West Queensland floods.
Organiser and governess at Alroy Downs Station, NT, Maddie Staff, said the silent auction will begin on Tuesday March 5 from 7.30pm and conclude Sunday March 10 at 6.30pm (Queensland time) through Auctions Plus.
"We have received an amazing amount of support so far with a variety of different auction items donated from businesses right across Australia," Ms Staff said.
"Mel Bethel photography donated a lovely big print, vouchers for businesses in Mount Isa, accommodations stays in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Bundaberg rum donated a large fridge, hampers full of small items including earrings, spa treatments, belts, clothes, accessories and much more.
"Our original goal was $5000 but with the amount of coverage we have received across Australia we are hoping to raise more."
When the auction concludes, all of the funds will be handed to Mount Isa School of the Air to distribute the money evenly to families affected by the floods.
Ms Staff said this would include a minimum of 40 families across the North West.
"This money will assist families rebuild school rooms, purchase uniforms, school supplies, home tutor week accommodation and just make sure children are still getting the education they deserve," she said.
"There have been a lot of kids who cannot access their online lessons, missing out on that important face-to-face time with their teacher and their friends, because of their internet or computers have been destroyed in the floods.
"MISOTA governess group and families is a very tight knit community so it just goes to show the resilience we have and that we can support our families, colleagues and friends affected."
All sold items will include a $10 postage fee.
