Task Force leader Brigadier Stephen Jobson said his role looking after the delivery of fuel and livestock feed, and supporting local government to produce the carcass disposal master plan officially ended when the transition tour ended on Saturday, February 23.
"The remaining defence force personnel will move back Monday and Tuesday to their home bases around the country," Brigadier Jobson said.
"I will hand over to the QRA and Major-General Stuart Smith who is the Queensland government state disaster coordinator and who will do an outstanding job supporting government and constituents in the months ahead to aid them towards getting back on their feet and bringing economic vibrancy back into their community."
Brigadier Jobson said they had conducted major initial disaster response for the last three weeks and it was time to transition to recovery and reconstruction.
"We conducted a transition tour across the entire region with Malcolm Letts, Queensland Chief Biosecurity Officer and Jimmy Scott, operation general manager of Queensland Reconstruction Authority," he said.
"We have travelled from Richmond across to Hughenden, Winton back to Creek and today (Saturday) we are travelling to Cloncurry and each day we are spending time with local governments and out on properties with cattle producers."
Brigadier Jobson said they wanted to understand the experiences of landholders and how they were working through remediation of their herd and what their requirements in the weeks, months and years ahead.
"The QRA and organisations like Department of Agriculture will continue to work to bring them back to economic prosperity," he said.
