A severe Queensland storm warning was issued for the Channel Country including Bedourie on Monday afternoon with heavy rainfalls and damaging winds expected due to slow-moving and heavy thunderstorms developing across the area
The thunderstorm developed south of Mount Isa before moving north and hitting the town around 7.30pm on Monday February 25.
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 34mm in Mount Isa, 16mm at Charters Bore and 18mm at May Downs Station.
Further south Boulia recorded 6mm and The Monument received 9.6mm.
This weather event followed a shower of rain on Sunday night where 1.8mm was recorded in Mount Isa.
All low-lying crossings around town are closed due to floodwaters, with all traffic directed over the Grace Street Bridge.
The weather forecast for the rest of today (Tuesday February 26) should see mostly sunny conditions with a low chance of rain (10 percent) and a top of 35 degrees.
Wednesday could see a slight chance (20 percent) of a shower with light winds and a top of 35 degrees.
Thursday could also see a slight chance (20 percent) of a shower and a top of 35 degrees.
