This year, the Eisteddfod will incorporate ten days of high energy dance, moving drama, beautiful music and literary works.
A fresh new committee is bringing a catalogue of ideas to the event, with President Daniel Johnson at the helm.
“We’re celebrating 53 years of providing young, emerging artists from the region with a platform for showcasing their talents and hard work,” Mr Johnson said.
“Every year, the Eisteddfod attracts more than 500 competitors from across Queensland, and continues to grow year on year.
"This year a range of new and reinvigorated sections will provide regional kids even more opportunity to flex their creative muscles," he said.
These include the Junior and Senior Modern Dance and Classical Ballet championships, 12 new music sections including new stringed instrument sections and piano sight reading, the re-introduction of Shakespeare monologues and a new Shakespeare sonnet section.

“We also have a focus on Australian playwrights and authors for our Speech and Drama sections, including new Australian Monologue section for adults,” Mr Johnson said.
“Over the past few years, our focus has been on expanding the cultural enrichment opportunities available to young artists from the region, and with the Queensland Government announcing 2019 as ‘The Year of the Outback’, we’re using that as an opportunity to grow our support base to attract more talent to our annual competition, as well as to showcase what the north west has to offer, now and into the future.
Mr Johnson said the event wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the sponsors, volunteers, and community that have supported the Mount Isa Eisteddfod for more than half a century.
“We’re proud of our rich history and really excited to be part of the Mount Isa Eisteddfod’s continued growth and evolution.
A range of corporate sponsorship and community support opportunities for the 2019 Mount Isa Eisteddfod are now available, with packages to suit large and small businesses, community organisations, and individual and family supporters of the arts in outback Queensland.
