On Monday April 8 Mount Isa Magistrates Court heard how the defendant was on parole and under the influence of alcohol when he committed the offence in December 2018 at a local address in Mount Isa.
The court heard how the defendant was a "big drinker" and relocated to Mount Isa two years ago to have easier access to alcohol.
Magistrate James Morton said he remembered the defendant from previous appearances.
"I represented you about 10 years ago and you were a big drinker then," Magistrate Morton said.
"This offence was verbal threats only - but the issue remains that you have an alcohol problem."
After 123 days in custody, the Mornington Island man was eligible for parole on April 8.
