A seven month collaboration between Save the Children and the North West Health and Hospital Service has culminated in the launch of a new Domestic Violence project for the region.

The Mount Isa After Hours (MIAH) Domestic and Family Violence Progam is the first of its kind in Mount Isa and launched on Friday in the foyer of the hospital.
NWHHS Clinical Nurse Consultant Alyce Rosenthal said this service agreement came as a result of interagency response from the Mount Isa Domestic and Family Violence High Risk team.
"It was noted there was a gap in support for victims who present at the hospital outside of normal business hours," Ms Rosenthal said.
"Care and support was not available to be provided by social workers and Indigenous liaison officers."
"But now by utlising the after hours service provided by Save The Children, it will provide the patients with a specialised support service," she said.
Ms Rosenthal said the interagency response will help improve the holistic care of patients, which is the ultimate goal.
Save The Children Regional Coordinator Ankur Verma said the service provides a flexible and timely after hours response in Mount isa.
"It prioritises the safety of the victims," Mr Verma said.
