Disability, aged care and allied health care specialists from NWRH received a generous donation last week; with long term service partners Think Mobility Townsville donating an Oxford Mobile Hydraulic Hoist for use in the safe transfer of clients in clinical and care scenarios.

To be housed at NWRH's Residential Aged Care Facility Ngooderi House in Doomadgee, this much needed specialist equipment will fulfil a strong need for NWRH in the remote North West Queensland community.
Assistive technology and complex rehab equipment specialists Think Mobility Townsville work closely with NWRH (and have done for 10+ years), today assisting clinicians with equipment prescription through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Community Home Support Program (CHSP).
With the need for outreach services recently increasing to every 6-8 weeks in remote communities such as Doomadgee "the donation was just one small way of increasing safe levels of care" said Think Mobility Townsville Sales Administrator and Team Leader Sharyn Adams.
"The Oxford Mobile Hydraulic Hoist enables carers to safely transfer clients, and in this case, residents using appropriate manual handling techniques," Ms Adams said.
Providing dignity and comfort to residents and ensuring staff safety during transfers, the hoist also boasts non battery-operated technology offering convenient use in the event of power outages.
Extremely grateful for Think Mobility's generous and thoughtful donation, NWRH Chief Executive Officer Evelyn Edwards spoke of the significance of the donation.
"As a not-for-profit company we (NWRH) work within our means to always ensure client and staff safety and comfort as paramount," Ms Edwards said.
"Like in many fields our industry is also privy to developing technologies, so keeping up with the latest and emerging equipment such as the newly donated mobile hoist from the Think Mobility team is a costly exercise.
"Receiving a donation of this kind and magnitude is something we did not expect but truly welcome and appreciate at the absolute highest level as it means our Aged Care specialists in the remote community of Doomadgee can better maximise service delivery and safe work measures to increase efforts for a well-rounded aged care service."
Handover of the new mobile hoist device was received today at NWRH head office in Townville with many high-fives and smiling health care specialists on site.
