Latest figures show a total of 19,299 passengers travelled during May 2019 an increase of 9.2 per cent on May 2018 when 17,678 passengers passed through the airport terminal.
Airport owners Queensland Airports Limited said the improved results are reflective of increasing activity in the region, with the airport experiencing growth for 15 of the past 17 months.
QAL chief executive officer Chris Mills said it was pleasing to see Mount Isa Airport continue the positive run of numbers.
"We were delighted to see the airlines are increasing capacity on their flights out of Brisbane," Mr Mills said.
"This upswing is occurring at a time when demand has been soft at other regions across Australia, so Mount Isa is well and truly punching above its weight."
