Jack Wilson was the special guest at the Naidoc Week fun day at the Skate Park on Friday and took part in the march to the park.
Wilson appeared on Channel Nine's Australian Ninja Warrior in 2017 and he said it was a pleasure to be back in Kalkadoon country.
"I'm very proud to be back for Naidoc Week especially, just to be amongst Indigenous culture, it's close to my heart" Mr Wilson said.
"I love being a part of it, it should be Naidoc Week every week of the year."
Wilson said it was a great turnout for the march.
"It's good to see the community turn out as one for this significant time of the year and it's good to see all the smiles and happy faces on the kids around," he said.
Wilson said that his role now was to travel the nation working with schools and communities.
"I contract through the government system and organisations as a fitness ambassador," he said.
"My message is to reinforce the importance of health and wellbeing, especially what sport and movement have done for me. It saved my life and helped me understand how it felt to be naturally high instead of all the artificial highs, alcohol and drugs which I used to take in my teenage years."
