Ever since Daniel's parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe have promoted the importance of child safety across the land.
On Monday they were in Mount Isa and they had a three word message for the kids of Barkly Highway state school.
"Our three key words are recognise, react and report," Mr Morcombe said.
"We don't scare the kids in what happened to Daniel but we make it relevant in today's terms."
"We are here in Mount Isa spreading our message at four schools and are looking forward to educating kids on how to keep safe."
Mr Morcombe said kids needed to recognise their body clues.
"For example hairs on the back of your neck, goosebumps or just feelings of uneasiness," he said.
"You also need to 'react' which could be as simple as running away or no longer talking to the stranger. Once you are again feeling safe you must 'report'."
Mr Morcombe said they encouraged a safety network.
"That could be mum and dad, a friend's mum and dad, an aunt or uncle or even a police officer," he said.
"And of of course it's up to the parents to listen, believe them and do something about it."
