Mount Isa City Council were extremely proud to this week sign an agreement with Mount Isa Heat Swim Team to ensure a strong future for the team's ongoing growth.
The agreement gives the team an opportunity to access Splashez Aquatic Centre every Wednesday evening for club night events, as well as dedicated storage facilities and signage opportunities.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said Council was extremely supportive of the re-establishment of the team and was happy that council was able to offer an agreement which would make it easier for the team to plan events and attract new members.
"Swimming is such an important part of our community, it always has been, and it will be fantastic to see new members joining the team and a new generation of swimmers being inspired to join," Cr McCulloch said.
"The upgrades to Splashez earlier this year make it an even better space for teams and swimmers to practice, compete and enjoy."
Mount Isa Heat Swim Team President Rachel Bain said the agreement between the team and Council cemented the re-establishment of the team after being inactive for three years.
"We're really excited to get the team back up and running again, and it's now really great to have a set time each week for the team to meet," Ms Bain said.
Ms Bain said the team caters to all ages and abilities and they are looking forward to encouraging as much participation in swimming as possible.
"There are so many children in our community that are interested in swimming, so we want to give them this opportunity to join a team."
