Last week Cloncurry Shire Council said the 20 tonne beams were being put into place.
"Seventeen of these will be erected over the next two days getting this two-lane heavy vehicle standard bridge closer to completion," Council said on Thursday.
Council hope to reopen the bridge by the end of the year.
The old bridge was demolished in July with diversions in place.
Access from town to the saleyards, the airport and beyond is via Railway St (local traffic only) or via Andrew Daniels Drive and Hensley Drive for heavy vehicles.
