Lionel was 25 when he married 19-year-old Dot at the Methodist Church in Winton on December 3, 1949.
The couple had two daughters and one son and resided at "The Nobbies" Station north of Cloncurry, where one of their daughters and her family still live today.
Lionel and Dot now reside at the Keith Douglas Snr Aged Care Facility at Cloncurry Hospital and the couple shared a special morning tea to celebrate their anniversary.
When asked what their advice was for a long and happy marriage, Lionel said "be agreeable to everything."
While Dot said "make sure you know what you decide on (big decisions in life) and stick by them."
"Also be true and faithful," Dot said.
The wedding veil that Dot wore on her special day, has also been worn by three other brides, who are still married today.
