This year's Mount Isa Show (scheduled June 19-20) has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but Mount Isa City Council said the Mount Isa Show Day public holiday, on Friday, June 19 is still going ahead.
"The date is a gazetted public holiday - so although this year's Mount Isa Show has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, the public holiday will still be in effect," Council said.
The decision comes after the state government moved the Ekka Day holiday from a Wednesday to a Friday so Brisbane residents could have a long weekend in lieu of their Show which has also been cancelled.
Other regions were also offered the ability to change their date but with Mount Isa and Cloncurry Show days falling on Friday they already have long weekends.
