Overnight minimums will dip from the current mid teens to the single digits next week with a doona-inducing low of 5 predicted for Tuesday.
Daytime temperatures too will fall from the high 20s to the low 20s as a large high over the western Tasman Sea strengthened as it moves very slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea over the next few days.
The associated ridge will strengthen along the Queensland east coast in response, with moderate to fresh trade wind flow along the east coast and increasing shower activity over eastern districts. On Saturday a new trough will reach the southwest of Queensland, and progress eastwards across the state during Sunday, and eventually off the coast overnight and early on Monday.
In Mount Isa Thursday will be sunny with easterly winds easterly 20 to 30 km/h becoming light in the evening and a daytime maximum temperature around 30.
Friday and Saturday will be the same with sunny weather and minimums of 15 and maximums of around 30.
Things start to cool down Sunday with a range of 12 to 25.
Sunday night is when the chill factor arrives with a low of six rising to 21 Monday before an overnight low of five rises to 22 on Tuesday.
Slightly warmer Wednesday with a range of 7 to 23.
