Queensland Racing granted the club $137,000 which has pleased Mount Isa race club president Mick Tully.
"We were lucky enough to receive the grant which will be used replace the stewards tower, to do up the jockey room, supply vests and helmets for the barrier attendants as well as other things," Mr Tully said.
"It was a huge grant to get so we are looking forward to upgrading our facility and showing it off to our spectators."
With regard to the next race having punters Mr Tully said they will know when that is soon.
"We have a committee meeting next week that will determine when our first race is back but we are aiming at next weekend," he said.
"There's lots of work to be done with all the new restrictions but one thing for sure is that we are eager to get up back and running.
"The Mount Isa Cup is planned for September 28 and that is a huge day for us so we are hopeful things are back to normal by then."
