The public notice invites Brett Fallon to its council meeting on August 19 and says Council plans to evict him off the island under the powers granted to it under the Queensland Local Government Act,
The notice, authorised by Mayor Kyle Yanner and acting CEO Lyndon Prior, says Mr Fallon has "no proper approval" or "no proper purpose" to be on the island.
The Council said to prevent eviction Mr Fallon needs to attend the meeting and provide evidence of his bona fides to be supported by at least two people who can testify to "his purpose on Mornington Island".
When the North West Star visited the island in March, we met Mr Fallon who said then he was the unpaid secretary for the Lardil Tribal Council, which he said was registered with the UN and owned the island.
In 2016 the Sydney Morning Herald identified Mr Fallon as a former owner of "a string of cane and beef properties in Queensland who poured petrol over himself and walked into his open cooking fire in 2013 after a bank came and took it all away".
