While official gauge at the airport remained at 0.0 at 7.30am falls of several millimetres were recorded across the city and it was still raining at the time of writing around 8am.
There was 4.6mm in the gauge for Saturday - the first rain since August 7 in the city - and a similar amount looks likely for Sunday.
Today's forecast is for partly cloudy conditions and a medium (40%) chance of showers during the morning and afternoon with the chance of a thunderstorm during the morning and afternoon.
Monday will be a mostly sunny morning with a warm top of 36 and a slight (30%) chance of a shower in the afternoon and evening. There is the chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
There will be similar conditions on Tuesday with the possibility of up to 8mm of rain.
The rain goes away later in the week but top temps are back down to around 30.
The southwest is getting the best of the rain.
A trough system will persist in the southwest today then begin to move east on Monday as a cold front approaches, crossing the south of the state over the following few days.
