TAFE Queensland early childhood education and care graduate Rose Kote is passionate about helping young children learn and grow.
Born and raised in Papua New Guinea, Ms Kote and her husband moved permanently to Australia and settled in Mount Isa in 2016.
Ms Kote said helping to raise her three sisters and one brother provided her with the building blocks for a future career.
"After so much thought and serious consideration, I decided to pursue a career in early childhood education and care," Ms Kote said.
"Armed with my natural talent and born passion for caring for my younger siblings, I enrolled in a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care at the Mount Isa campus."
With new skills under her belt, Ms Kote secured work before she'd even finished her training, taking on an educator role with Red Oasis Early Education and Care.
Ms Kote said her supportive workplace had contributed to her success.
"They have been at the forefront of my development, sharing their expertise and knowledge, and even providing me with a job for my learning and development," she said.
"I appreciate what they have done and how they continue to assist me in my career and personal development."
After completing her certificate studies, Ms Kote was keen to further her knowledge and she enrolled in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Early childhood education and care teacher, Jodie Hilton said Ms Kote was a dedicated student.
"Rose strived at all times to succeed in her studies, always asking questions or for guidance if she needed support," Ms Hilton said.
"Rose is well-suited to working in early childhood education and care. She is a very caring and supportive person and this shows in her everyday practices at the service with children, families and her peers."
Ms Kote said supporting the needs of young children was incredibly rewarding.
"The most fulfilling aspect of working in the childcare industry is the huge smiles and cuddles I get from all my children and families," she said.
"It is important and a great feeling when the families know that their child is being taught and looked after by a passionate, genuine, lovable and competent educator."
Childcare and outside school hours care has been listed by Seek as one of 20 most needed roles in Australia.
