The storm happened on January 3 and the photos taken by Tarsha Shaw shows a dust rolling into Boulia town and the surrounding country from the south.
Boulia Shire Council said these big dust waves, also known as a Bedourie, used to be very common throughout the shire in the early 1960s.
"Many of our long-term locals remember these storms lasting up to 3 days at a time," Boulia Shire Council said.
Bedourie is a town 200km south of Boulia, which borders the Simpson Desert and the town's name actually means "dust storm" in the local Indigenous language.
In November 2019 a dust storm centered on Mount Isa stretched all the way from the Northern Territory to Roma.
