Q & A with the Shank Brothers
Have you been to the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo?
No, but we literally can't wait to see the spectacle of Man and Horse become one in the traditional Outback Australian way of life!! That and of course, Guy Sebastian.
What can we expect to see from The Shank Brothers at this year's Rodeo?
You can certainly expect to see some smoke, smell some amazing wafts of chargrilled Beef, some tips to nail your Lamb game and maybe see a few grown men cry in our hot wing challenge.
What is low and slow and hot and fast? Is one style better than the other?
Low and Slow is obviously a slower method of cooking at lower temperatures. Usually larger and more tough cuts of meat are used and smoked until deliciously rendered and juicy. Think Beef Brisket or Pulled Pork. Hot and Fast is when you have limited time but need to bang out a quick smoky treat. This can be anything from a Chicken Thigh to a Cheese Kransky - If we had to pick a fave it would probably be low and slow as it gives you more time to stay pitside (not mowing the lawn) and hydrated (enjoying a cold beer).
There seems to be a growing interest in BBQ across Australia?
Yeah definitely, the BBQ wave has been rolling for easily the better side of almost 10 years now and certainly shows no sign of slowing down. Once you master time and temperature coupled with live fire and charcoal and smoke, it's a really good chance you'll be hooked. Both of us have been threatened with divorce if we brought any more BBQs home...
How do you think BBQ will go with the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo audience?
We think it's going to be a very natural progression. Horses, livestock, livestock you can smoke and eat... hey what's not to love?! Plus great music, cold beverages; it's going to be an absolute highlight of 2021 - We can't wait to share some tips and fire up those smokers.
What are you most looking forward to at this year's Rodeo?
Guy Sebastian! And soaking in the authentic rodeo experience and having a few frothies with the locals.
The 2021 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will be held 12 to 15 August, 2021.
