Splashez Aquatic Centre closed Sunday and is not expected to reopen until September 19.
The six week work is park of the planned $7.5m upgrade to the Family Fun Precinct.
Work set to commence on the facility include putting in new shade structures, new barbecues, new lighting, solar roofing and there will be a private function area that people will be able to hire out.
There will also be upgrades to the perimeter fencing and walls which ties in with a similar piece of work at the fun park next door.
Council also hopes to do some maintenance work on the pool itself depending on the availability of contractors in lockdown.
About a quarter of the 50m pool is already shaded and that won't change but there will be a lot more shade for people to sit near the pool and shade between the 50m pool and the leisure pool.
