Two items relate to motions at the upcoming Local Government Association of Queensland conference in October.
Council proposes to formally submit a motion to see an expansion of the Regional University Centres program to provide students from rural and regional Australia more choice and access to higher education.
Council's report said the percentage of population with a bachelor's degree or higher is lower in regional and remote communities compared to major cities but the Regional University Centre programs have closed the gap.
The program help students in regional and remote areas access higher education without having to leave their community by providing student support and campus-style facilities for students who study online.
The second proposed motion to the LGAQ wants to share the benefit and funding commitments of the 2032 Olympics with rural and remote Queensland communities.
The council report said that if the Olympics 2032 are genuinely going to benefit the entire state there needs to be a tangible demonstration of this commitment by way of guaranteed funding to rural and remote communities.
The other two on the agenda is for Council to draft funding application to the Resources Community Infrastructure Fund announced last month, one a Minor Infrastructure Projects (under one million dollars) for installation of additional aquatic infrastructure, the other a Major Infrastructure Projects (over one million dollars) for replacement of sporting infrastructure.
