"Now is the time - if you've been putting it off, if you've been waiting, the deadline is looming," Mr Miles said.
Time is running out - we need you to get vaccinated."
Mr Miles visited and toured the Mount Isa Vaccination Hub at the Civic Centre and speaking a day after the government released its COVID lockdown exit roadmap said the government's message to locals and visitors alike was "it's over to you."
"We need you to come in and get vaccinated before 17 December, when all of those border restrictions will be lifted," he said.
"Please, between now and 17 December, that's your chance to get vaccinated. And if you're vaccinated, you will have the maximum freedoms going forward."
Mr Miles said if they had regions with enduring low vaccination rates, the risk is they could be subject to new restrictions and new lockdowns if there is a widespread outbreak.
"The way to avoid that is to hit that 80% double-vaccinated target," he said. The modelling says that once we are at that 80% double-vaccinated target, the risk of an outbreak so large that we would need a lockdown is very, very low."
Mr Miles met Mayor Danielle Slade and council management to discuss issues around health, childcare, housing and water.
The Mount Isa Vaccination Hub at the Mount Isa Civic Centre is open six days a week:
