Prime Minister Scott Morrison used his visit to WA to announce $140 million for two new hydrogen hubs in the Pilbara and Perth as well $6 million to investigate two new development projects and $67 million to develop two carbon capture and storage hubs plus $8 million in two strategically critical projects.
The focus will be on developing new technology that will help Australia to establish competitive advantages in key areas, including nickel, cobalt and lithium supply.
However Mr Stewart said the announcement had nothing for Queensland despite the world-class opportunities that already exist for new economy minerals in the state.
"Scott Morrison has said WA was his government's partner of choice for critical minerals," he said.
"This is a disgrace and short-sighted. The North West Minerals Province has world class deposits of new economy minerals the world is looking for.
"You would think having the LNP finally realise that new economy minerals are a golden opportunity for Australia would be a good thing but it's all just a sham to secure votes in WA."
Mr Stewart said Queensland's North West Minerals Province had huge potential for producing what's needed for the changing world.
"Our Collaborative Exploration Initiative grants are helping small businesses find the next big mineral deposits that will create jobs and royalties, and power the renewable energy revolution," he said.
