The National Police Remembrance Day was chaired by Father Mick Lowcock who is also the Mount Isa police counsellor.
Father Mick said his role with Mount Isa police was very rewarding and rarely felt like work.
"I see my job as a privilege because people share things with you and it is an honour to help," Father Mick said.
Father Mick said officers were not afraid to talk about issues with him.
"With the job sometimes involving danger there isn't really any stigma in an officer coming to me for a chat.
"I would consider many of them my friend and not someone related with work.
"Even some people that have left Mount Isa keep in touch which is extraordinary."
Mount Isa Superintendent Glen Pointing said the service was important to pay respects.
"I actually lost a colleague when I was working in Brisbane about ten years ago which was difficult to deal with," Superintendent Pointing said.
Superintendent Pointing said the Mount Isa police station employees have their own psychologist that is available at all times free of charge and there is also peer support networks.
"Looking after your staff really is one of the most important things," he said.
Superintendent Pointing said after the Mount Isa service they were off to Cloncurry for another service.
"We cover a large distance in the North West which goes as north as Mornington Island and as south as far as Birdsville," he said.
Superintendent Pointing said working in Mount Isa had its challenges, especially since a lot of the officers that move to Mount Isa for work have never worked in remote communities before.
"Overall it is still a great place to work and it's one of those places that once you leave you reflect on and talk about for the rest of your life," he said.
Three police officers this year lost their lives, two from Victoria and one from New South Wales.
