Alison and Terry Dowling won the Motor Trades Association of Queensland Industry Community Support Award 2019 in Brisbane
Terry and Alison were presented with their award at the MTAQ Industry Awards Dinner held November 16 2019 by supercar racing champion Craig Lowndes in front of the MTAQ President and CEO and 200 guests at the Emporium Hotel in Brisbane.
Terry and Alison bought the Hertz Mount Isa vehicle hire franchise in 2004 and they said both recognised the importance of 'giving back' to community when they could.
"Whether as volunteers, by donation or other in-kind support, this form of teamwork acknowledges the value of business and personal reciprocity in creating social capital necessary for increased quality of life outcomes for people living in rural and remote towns and regions," Alison Dowling said.
"Mount Isa businesses have a proud history of supporting local community events and activities, especially the Mount Isa Rodeo since 1959 and Rodeo Queens Quest nominated charities."
Alison said their latest Hertz Mount Isa sponsorship has been to assist the Phantoms Basketball team, by providing shirts to a group of young people engaged in team sport.
"This is good for building skills, personal health, confidence, self-esteem and friendships," she said.
"Our thanks go to the MTAQ Industry Awards sponsors, the Commonwealth Bank, Core SME and MTAA Superfund; the MTAQ for contributing towards our costs in attending the dinner; our great staff at Hertz Mount Isa; our repeat Hertz Mount Isa customers, and our operational service businesses based in Mount Isa, Rockhampton, Brisbane, including Hertz Corporate in Melbourne office."
