A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for North West Queensland on Wednesday December 25.

The warning was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology and locations which could be affected include Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Camooweal, Kamilaroi Station and Lawn Hill.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and North West districts.
A 119km/h wind gust was recorded at Julia Creek Airport at 4.28pm.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
- Move your car under cover or away from trees.
- Secure loose outdoor items.
- Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
- Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
- Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
- For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 7:40 pm.
