With COVID-19 ending any possibility of a live rodeo in its 61st year, the 2020 Mount Isa Mines virtual rodeo will broadcast free this Saturday night, August 8 from 6pm.
Mount Isa Mines Rodeo CEO Natalie Flecker said she was thrilled to announce Lee Kernaghan, Nashville-based O'Shea and Casey Barnes would perform live as part of the 2020 Mount Isa Mines Virtual Rodeo.
"The live Rodeo Rock concerts every night of the Isa Rodeo are a huge part of our rodeos pre-COVID," Ms Flecker said.
"These are all artists who have had an amazing impact on our Rodeo Rock stage in Mount Isa. We are excited they are working with us again in a virtual space for 2020."
The Virtual Rodeo will feature a mix of rodeo action (from videos sent in by competitors from around Australia and overseas), interviews with rodeo champions, stunning Outback Queensland scenery as well as live performances by the three country acts. It can be viewed free via www.isarodeo.com.au from Saturday 6pm AEST.
Headlining is country rock favourite Lee Kernaghan, known for his modern day anthems like `The Outback Club', `Boys From The Bush', `Hat Town', `She's My Ute' and `Australian Boy'.
Kernaghan said playing the 2019 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo had been one of the highlights of his 2019 Backroad Nation Tour. "I am looking forward to playing for rodeo fans next Saturday night," he said.
Nashville-based country duo O'Shea is a high profile husband and wife duo who are four-time Golden Guitar winners. Mark is from Dalby, Queensland and Jay from Adelaide. They are currently working on their fifth album for Sony Music Australia. They've hit #1 on the ARIA Country Sales Charts and have performed everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville to the Sydney Opera House. It is a return to the Isa for O'Shea after they were social media hosts in 2016.
Golden Guitar finalist Casey Barnes, who is making a massive impact on the Australian country music scene, is celebrating his second consecutive number one with "We're Good Together" off his new album `Town of A Million Dreams' on the Music Network Hot 50.
Ms Flecker paid tribute to the cowboys and cowgirls who had entered videos which are currently being judged for the Virtual Rodeo broadcast.
"We hope rodeo fans will enjoy the broadcast's mix of rodeo action, characters, live entertainment and stunning Outback Queensland scenery, and hopefully wecan welcome you in Mount Isa for the 2021 event," she said.
