At its meeting on Wednesday Council resolved to promote and receive nominations for its Australia Day awards, planned to host the ceremony at Buchanan Park and offer free ticketed entry to Splashez Aquatic Centre on the day.
The Splashez event will be limited to 400 people due to COVID restrictions.
The awards have to be held at Buchanan Park while repairs continue at the Civic Centre which has been closed since March.
The meeting approved an internal development application for a material change of use for Gallipoli Park.
Council got $895,000 in state government funding for a project to revamp and rejuvenate the Soldiers Hill park, transforming a section of it into a recreational area to suit people of all ages.
The meeting also heard a video presentation from members of the Women's international League for Peace and Freedom, who want Mount Isa to be the first council to sign a motion against nuclear weapons.
Council has also endorsed a submission to the federal government's Future of Australia's Aviation Sector Issues Paper.
The submission referenced its submission to the previous air inquiry which identified key issues as being affordability, infrastructure upgrades, flight scheduling, training and competition.
The pandemic has been the big issue since that 2018 submission and while scheduling has returned to pre-COVID levels, Mount Isa City Council says there are now issues with reliability of services wiith cancellations "not uncommon".
