The North West Canoe Club begun consultation for a booster tower 18 kilometres from Mount isa in December 2020, with installation and operations commencing in February 2021.
North West Canoe Club secretary Alison Whitehead said there was a great demand for reliable phone service at the lake.
"We decided for safety purposes that we wanted additional telephone signal out at the lake, so we decided to put up a booster on top of our clubhouse roof," Ms Whitehead said.
"With the Assistance of RCS Telecommunications we installed one. So there is now phone coverage from the clubhouse, across the park area, towards the lookout."
Ms Whitehead said the antennae was installed at the clubhouse and would service the club and greater community.
"While it is detrimental in the event of an emergency, it is a fantastic thing to have access to out there.
"It will be there for anyone to use in an emergency but also if someone has forgotten something for their barbecue."
At the time of consultation, Ms Whitehead said the club was not aware that Mount Isa City Council were also looking into installing a tower at the lake.
"We were not aware of this until we saw the article in the North West Star, by then we were already in the process of installing the tower," she said.
"We are grateful to RCS Telecommunications have donated the goods at this stage. We are waiting on confirmation of sponsorship, but if not it is an expense that the club is willing to pay for to service the greater community."
