This year's event held at Buchanan Park on Saturday March 6, saw 25 nominations across the two categories with the winners announced on the night.
2021 Woman of Achievement was presented to long standing Mount Isa resident Rowena Paine-Murphy.
Rowena has been active in the Mount Isa and District Pony Club, Mount Isa Campdraft and Mount Isa Show Society. And while her love of horses keeps her busy, it is art that is her passion.
She has completed commissions and artworks that are on display all around Australia and the world. A self-taught artist, she now shares that love with senior school students and the public.
And in between opening her art gallery, holding classes and completing her artworks, this woman has walked the Larapinta Trail and is now co-ordinating a Walk from Cloncurry to Mount Isa to raise funds for the Isa Palliative Care Unit.
Other nominees included Tanya Cambetis, Lisa Clancy, Claudine Dank, Katrina Gall, Veronica Sammon, Carly Grubb, Marilyn Harding, Ranita Toholke and Taylor Wilson.
The 2021 Young Woman of Achievement Award was presented to Spinifex State College school captain, Brooke Troxell.
From her volunteer work at Mount Isa Fishing classic, rodeo ball, and many fetes, festivals, fundraisers and events, it's a wonder Brooke has time to dance, let alone work part-time. However she has managed all of this without losing focus on her studies, having received an impressive range of academic awards and prizes.
It is obvious though that dancing is her passion and amongst high accolades at the eisteddfod she recently was awarded Reserve Champion Dancer at Dirty Feet Outback Dance Festival and completed her Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Exams with high merits.
It's no wonder she was selected to meet the Governor General and his wife during their recent visit to Mount Isa.
Other nominees included, Jorja Bell, Charlotte Coghlan, Alina Dempsey, Keilie Eggmolesse, Piper Gosney, Olivia Greenhalgh, Sophia Greenhalgh, Jodie Jury, Jade King, Brooke Larkin, Amie Pemble, Angela Radford, Stepheny Reddish and Brianna Thirlwall.
