The Bureau of Meteorology reported that a moist and unstable air mass had developed across the region, and could develop isolated shower and thunderstorm activity in the coming days.
"We have a reasonable amount of moisture in the air and unstable conditions in the atmosphere and as a trigger we have a low-pressure system that is running across Central Australia," BoM meteorologist Kimba Wong said.
"It will be slow moving through the western parts of the state as we move through the week and that feature might help trigger some afternoon showers and storms as well. But it will be very hit and miss.
"We are also seeing quite warm conditions with maximum temperatures remaining a few degrees above average, in the high 30s through the week and warming up closer to 40 degrees in the weekend."
Despite moist conditions across the region, Ms Wong said monsoonal conditions across Northern Australia were inactive.
"We are currently in a monsoon break period, so the monsoon trough has pretty much washed out," she said.
"For this time of year it is quite benign conditions, but there is still the chance of shower activity but not heavy monsoonal activity.
"Our next tropical wave might come through towards the end of the month, so we might see an increase of activity then."
