The walkers, riders and support crew of the Run Walk Ride for Palliative Care reached Mary Kathleen on Tuesday with plenty of sore feet but even more soaring hearts.

Organiser Rowena Murphy told ABC Radio on Wednesday morning they had done 80km over four days to that point which is exactly half of the anticipated 160km journey though magnificent North West country.

"The Selwyn Ranges are so beautiful, this is a girlhood dream of mine to walk across some of these hills," Ms Murphy said.

The idea was the brainchild of Ms Murphy and fellow walker Liz Debney but the final group consists of 16 walkers, four horseriders and a support crew of around 10,

"They've done the best camp set up I've ever seen, it is amazing," Ms Murphy said.

"Family and friends come and join us so there is lots of yarns and fun and games."

Ms Murphy said they were raising money for cuddle moneys for palliative care so elderly couples can remain together in the final days of one of them.

She said their fundraising team was doing a great job and was likely to be able to fund two to three beds so not only Mount Isa Hospital will be benefit but also likely Cloncurry and smaller centres.

The group is expected to arrive in Mount Isa on Saturday at the back of Pamela St Hill water tanks around 3pm and they will also enter the campdraft arena for the Mount Isa campdraft that evening.
