Well, now's your chance.
The first information night for the 2022 Mount Isa Mines Queen Quest will be held on Monday with special guests 2019 Rodeo Queen Aimee Sewell and Charity Queen Tony 'Tonka' Toholke as well as Rodeo CEO Natalie Flecker.
In 2019 police officer Aimee Sewell raised funds for the PCYC and raised more than $80,000 with the help of her volunteer support group "Aimee's Army" which ended up in the purchase of a coffee and barbecue van, while Tonka, just the second male entrant in 20 years, raised $101,846 for counselling support service This is a Conversation Starter Foundation.
Ms Sewell said the information night was aimed at inspiring the next generation of queen quest entrants and give them the information they needed to make a more informed decision about participating.
"We'll be there to assist with any questions and explain the criteria and requirements," Ms Sewell said.
Ms Sewell said for those that get involved Queen Quest is one of the great experiences of their lives.
"It's so rewarding and it engrains you in the community," she said.
"It's such a great opportunity to give the vital messages of your charity and promote the rodeo at the same time."
Ms Sewell said that especially after COVID there were a lot of local charities struggling and needed help.
"I think in these times the community would really get behind our Queen," she said.
She had one bit of advice for those thinking about participating.
"The most important thing is that it is a team activity, you may be the front of it but it's definitely about the team and the support group should have just as much passion as you do for the charity," she said.
The information night is on at Buchanan Park, Monday. September 27 at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
