Through donations made by the local community, The Xtra Mile cooked and donated meals to the Green family, who lost their husband and father Jarrad Green in a tragic accident earlier this year.
The Xtra Mile owner Katrina Gall put a call out on social media for food or monetary donations to help support Claire Green and two daughters through this difficult time.
"We received enough donations to fill a freezer full of meals including 160 individual meals, 20 large family meals, some sweet treats and $1500 leftover cash," Ms Gall said.
"About 14 locals volunteered to spend the afternoon preparing, cooking and cleaning on Saturday January 23.
"We did it because they needed some love and support so what better way than through food. They don't have to think about cooking for the family for a while."
Claire collected the donated meals after the cook up. Ms Gall said her response was overwhelming.
"Since then I have seen Claire and it is very much appreciated. All the work that the volunteers put in has definitely made a difference to their lives," Ms Gall said.
"Businesses also jumped on board and donated supplies, including school supplies for the two girls to return to school.
"It was definitely a community effort."
This is not the first time that Ms Gall has donated her kitchen to a worthwhile local cause, having conducted other community cook-ups before.
"I just figure if I was in their shoes, I'd appreciate someone doing something for me. And this is something we do, we cook, so it is an easy way to support someone," she said.
"We can't have people in the community feeling like they're alone, so if this is one little thing that we can do, we do it."
The Green community cook-up was a separate fundraiser to the Go Fund Me page established to support the family, with more than $17,000 already donated.
