Over recent weeks, officers have detected motorists speeding, drink driving and drug driving, as well as further offences.
Sgt from Highway Patrol Mount Isa said motorists should observe the signed speed limits on all sections of Moondarra Drive.
"Police have received complaints about motorists speeding and driving dangerously through the 40km/h section of Moondarra Drive near Barkly Highway," Sgt Quinlan said.
Sgt Quinlan said people should also be mindful of alcohol consumption at the lake.
"Just two or three drinks throughout an afternoon could result in you being over the limit," he said.
He said police have stopped motorcyclists ridding unregistered and uninsured motorcycles on Moondarra Drive.
ALSO IN THE NEWS:
"Riding an unregistered and uninsured motorcycle on a road is an offence for which you can be fined and subsequently have your motorcycle impounded for repeat offences," he said.
"Motorcyclists are some of the most vulnerable road users with research showing they are 30 times more likely to be killed in the event of a crash than occupants of a vehicle.
"Injuries can be serious and life-changing, with long and difficult recoveries.
"All motorcyclists are encouraged to look after themselves, maintain their bike and wear the appropriate protective gear, it might just prevent you from sustaining serious injuries or even save your life."
Sgt Quinlan said police would conduct more patrols and roadside breath tests along Moondarra Drive to ensure road users are doing the right thing.
